Dr. Jenn Overstreet

About

Dr. Jenn Overstreet has spent 15 years in classrooms across the US, Italy, and Saudi Arabia, teaching children to read, leading schools, and training other teachers. She moved to Rome in 2017 and it became home.

What she noticed across every school and every context is that children who struggle with reading almost always have the ability. What they need is someone who knows how to reach them. That's the gap Bright Spiral Literacy exists to fill.

Her background spans classroom teaching, school leadership, literacy strategy, literacy community management, curriculum writing, and university instruction. Her formal qualifications include a PhD in Psychology, a Master's in Educational Leadership, K-6 and K-12 Special Education teaching licenses, a School Principal License, and an Instructional Coaching Certification.

She is currently based in Rome, teaching Grade 1 and running Bright Spiral Literacy for families who want something more than a generic tutoring service.

Policies

Payment

All packages are paid in full via Wise bank transfer before the first lesson. Single lessons are paid before each lesson.

Cancellation

Lessons cancelled with 48 hours or more notice are rescheduled at no charge. Lessons cancelled under 48 hours are charged in full.

Package Expiry

All packages expire four months from the date of purchase. Lessons must be completed within that window.

What data we collect and why

This website does not collect personal data through forms or cookies set by us. When you contact us via email, we receive your name and email address. This information is used solely to respond to your inquiry and, if you become a client, to deliver our services. The lawful basis for this processing is contract performance and legitimate interest.

Google Fonts

This site loads fonts from Google Fonts. When your browser requests these fonts, your IP address is transferred to Google's servers. Google may process this data in accordance with their own privacy policy. No personal data is passed to Google beyond what is inherent in a standard browser request.

Hosting

This site is hosted via GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc., a Microsoft company). GitHub may log standard server access data including IP addresses as part of their infrastructure operations. See GitHub's privacy policy for details.

Children's data

Our services are directed at children in grades K–5, but this website is intended for use by parents and guardians only. We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children. Any information about a child shared with us by a parent or guardian is treated with the highest level of confidentiality and used only to deliver our literacy services.

Your rights under GDPR

If you are based in the EU, you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of any personal data we hold about you. You also have the right to object to processing and to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at drjennoverstreet@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.

Data retention

Email correspondence is retained for as long as necessary to deliver our services and meet any legal obligations. Client records are kept for a maximum of three years after the end of the service relationship, after which they are deleted.

Complaints

If you have a concern about how your data is handled, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian data protection authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, at garanteprivacy.it.
